AIM Google Earth Visualizations

The AIM host team has been prototyping using Google Earth for visualizing various aspects of anonymous user data.

IM Conversations - kml

Using IP to City geocoding, this visualization displays all the conversations that have started in the last minute, in real time. At the world view only the newest conversations are shown, by zooming in older conversations are shown.

AIM Fight Top Users - kml

Using IP to City geocoding, this visualization display the locations of the Top AIM Fight users. At the world view only the largest collections of users are shown, by zooming in the map fills in.

Displays all the visualizations we have at once.

Using Visualizations

1. Download and install Google Earth
2. Select one of the kml links above, and open with Google Earth
3. In the Places Panel on the left hand side of Google Earth find the "Temporary Places" section
4. Activate the checkbox next to the new kml links downloaded
